The Fantasia International Film Festival returns to Montreal from July 16 to August 2, 2026, celebrating its milestone 30th edition. As North America’s largest genre film festival, Fantasia is a hub for horror, sci-fi, anime, kung fu, fantasy, and experimental cinema, screening over 100 films at the Concordia Hall and J.A. de Sève cinemas.

The 30th anniversary opens with the Canadian premiere of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Her Private Hell, and celebrates J-horror legend Takashi Shimizu with two new films. Other standouts include Jenn Wexler’s The Last Temptation of Becky, Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Yeon Sang-ho’s Colony, and Freaks Part II, alongside a stacked slate of world and North American premieres.

I am an obsessive horror movie goer. New release? I am in the theatre! Anything horror-related, I am game; movies, books, and video games. One genre I have trouble with is the paranormal genre, but I’ll still watch it. My favourite movies are: Event Horizon, 28 Days Later (I am a sucker for zombies), and The Descent.
